THIS TIME WE ALLOW OUR PATRONS TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES FOR 3 MINUTES AND SPEAK ON ANY ISSUE THAT IS FOR THE GOOD OF THE CAUSE.

AND SECONDLY, WHEN HE CALLED US TO MEET DISCUSSING THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING THAT YOU WILL BE DISCUSSING LATER THIS EVENING, HE CALLED US TOGETHER, OUR BARGAINING TEAM, AND BROUGHT THE FIRST PROPOSAL TO US, AND WE EXPRESSED SOME CONCERNS THAT WE HAD.

AND HE LISTENED TO OUR CONCERNS AND HE ADDRESSED MANY OF THOSE CONCERNS.

AND WE CAME TO AN AGREEMENT THAT WAS GOOD FOR ALL OF US, BASICALLY.

AND I WILL SAY THAT THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE PROFESSIONAL MANNER IN WHICH WE WERE DEALT WITH WAS A REFRESHING CHANGE.

SO WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR THAT.

WE'RE EXCITED TO HAVE OUR STUDENTS AND ALL OF OUR STAFF BACK AND FOR THINGS TO BE IN FULL SWING.

SO MUCH SO, IN FACT, THAT OUR PIKE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAM IS COMPETING IN A SCRIMMAGE AT CATHEDRAL AS WE SPEAK.

TOMORROW, OUR FOOTBALL FAMILY WILL TRAVEL TO LAFAYETTE JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL FOR THEIR SCRIMMAGE AND THEN WELCOME ZION FIELD TO THE STADIUM FOR THEIR SEASON HOME OPENER NEXT FRIDAY, AUGUST 19TH.

THIS SATURDAY, GIRLS SOCCER WILL HOST A SCRIMMAGE HERE AT 10 A.M..

BOYS SOCCER WILL TRAVEL TO AVON.

BOYS TENNIS WILL WELCOME CATHEDRAL FOR THEIR SCRIMMAGE AT 9 A.M..

OUR BOYS AND GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS WILL HOST THEIR INVITATIONAL AT OUR EAST BROOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COURSE BEGINNING AT 8:30 A.M..

AND GIRLS GOLF, WHO WERE OLD OAKLAND GOLF COURSE TODAY, WILL BE COMPETING IN THE BEN DAVIS INVITATIONAL AT SOUTH GROVE GOLF COURSE.

AND THIS IS JUST SUCH A BIG DEAL BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT INVOLVEMENT IN EXTRACURRICULARS LIKE ATHLETICS REALLY HELPS STUDENTS ACADEMICALLY.

IT HELPS WITH ATTENDANCE.

AND WE JUST SEE THAT TIME AFTER TIME AS WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECOGNIZE OUR SCHOLARS, PERFORMING ARTS STUDENTS AND ROBOTICS STUDENTS, FOR EXAMPLE. NEXT WEEK, OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WILL HOST BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS.

ON AUGUST 16TH, OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS WILL HOST BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS ON AUGUST 17TH, AND THE HIGH SCHOOL AND PREPARATORY ACADEMY WILL HOST THEIR BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS ON AUGUST 18TH. IF YOU WOULD ALLOW ME, I WOULD LIKE TO RECRUIT SOMEONE TO SPEAK ABOUT THE NATHANIEL JONES EARLY LEARNING CENTERS BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT, BECAUSE I WAS NOT ABLE TO BE THERE, BUT SHE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN MAKING IT WILDLY SUCCESSFUL.

MY SON WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE SOMEONE WHO LOOKED LIKE HIM RIGHT THERE AT THE DOOR.

AND WE ALSO HAD SOME MEMBERS FROM AFC AND THE BOARD JUST STOPPED BY TO SHOW SUPPORT.

IT WAS AN AMAZING EVENT.

MRS. [INAUDIBLE] TALKS A LOT ABOUT HOW SOME OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALS CALLED HER AND SAID SHE SHOWED THEM UP.

IT WAS HUGE.

TONS OF PARENTS CAME OUT.

THERE WAS FOOD EVERYWHERE.

THE KIDS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY OUTSIDE ON THE PLAYGROUND.

PARENTS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE A TOUR OF THE BUILDING, WHICH WAS PRETTY MAJOR BECAUSE ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR SAFETY ISSUES, PARENTS WERE NOT ABLE TO GO IN AND WALK THEIR CHILDREN TO THE BUILDING.

SO TO THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THE CLASSROOMS, JUST GET FAMILIAR WITH THE TEACHERS.

THE TEACHERS KNEW THE KIDS RIGHT OFF THE BAT.

SO WHEN YOU WALKED IN, HEY, YOU'RE IN MY CLASS.

YOU'RE IN MY CLASS.

THEY WERE VERY FRIENDLY, VERY WELCOMING.

THERE WERE SEVERAL VENDORS OUT [INAUDIBLE] AS WELL AS ON MY WAY PRE-K, WHICH WAS REALLY HUGE BECAUSE A LOT OF FAMILIES IN OUR DISTRICT DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE ON THE WAY PRE-K PROGRAM. AND SO THEY WERE MADE AWARE THEY WERE ABLE TO DO SOME ON SITE ADMISSIONS AND ON SITE SUBMITTING OF THEIR APPLICATIONS.

SO THAT REALLY HAS HELPED TO INCREASE EQUITABLE ACCESS AND JELC AND THAT HAS BEEN A RESULT OF THE LEVEL THREE ADVANCEMENT.

SO IT WAS AN AMAZING TIME.

WE HAD BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT ON TUESDAY.

TONS OF PARENTS THERE, A LOT OF INTEREST IN OUR PTO.

YOUNG. TONIGHT, I'M EXCITED TO SHARE INFORMATION ABOUT TWO OF THE DISTRICT PRIORITIES FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR WITH YOU AND THE PIKE COMMUNITY.

FIRST, I WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT OUR ELEMENTARY PRINCIPALS, ELEMENTARY ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS.

OUR K THROUGH 2 TEACHERS AND OTHER STAFF MEMBERS WILL BEGIN PARTICIPATING IN LETTERS TRAINING VERY SOON, ACTUALLY, AUGUST 31ST.

THIS TWO YEAR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WILL BE AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS AS THEY WILL LEARN SOME OF THEIR STRATEGIC STRATEGIES.

ON LEARNING SOME OF THE BEST PRACTICES ON WORD COMPREHENSION, VOCABULARY, LANGUAGE, USAGE AND WRITING.

LETR STANDS FOR LANGUAGE ESSENTIALS FOR TEACHERS OF READING AND SPELLING.

THIS RESEARCH BASED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IS ALIGNED TO THE SCIENCE OF READING WILL HELP TRAIN OUR EDUCATORS AGAIN IN THOSE VERY CRITICAL EARLY FOUNDATION AREAS FOR OUR STUDENTS. LETR TRAINING WILL USE A COMBINATION OF ONSITE AND ASYNCHRONOUS TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES TO PROVIDE OUR TEACHERS WITH FLEXIBLE OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN, PRACTICE AND APPLY EFFECTIVE READING STRATEGIES ROOTED IN THESE BEST PRACTICES.

I'M VERY EXCITED THAT THIS RESEARCH WILL BE ENTERING OUR DISTRICT TO HELP SUPPORT OUR LEARNERS AND TO RAISE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.

ADDITIONALLY, PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES BETTER KNOWN AS PLCS, WILL BE A SIGNIFICANT DRIVER IN ANALYZING STUDENT DATA IN OUR INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES ACROSS ALL GRADE LEVELS, TEAMS WILL MEET IN COLLABORATIVE LEARNING STRUCTURES AT LEAST ONCE PER MONTH TO ANALYZE STUDENT DATA.

THE PIKE PLC MODEL IS BASED ON THE HIGHLY ACCLAIMED WORK OF [INAUDIBLE].

THE PLC MEETINGS AIM TO ENSURE THAT OUR WONDERFUL EDUCATORS HAVE A CLEAR DATA ANALYSIS SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS THEM TO LOOK AT STUDENT PERFORMANCE IN A TIMELY AND RESPONSIVE MANNER. ANALYZING OUR COMMON ASSESSMENTS ACROSS ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS WILL ALSO BE A CRITICAL COMPONENT OF THE PLC PROCESS WHEN LOOKING AT STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. I'M EXCITED FOR THIS YEAR.

SO WE HAVE ACHIEVED A LEVEL THREE STATUS ON THE PATHS TO QUALITY SCHOOLS, WHICH IS AN AWESOME ACCOMPLISHMENT.

WE'RE STILL WORKING TO GET TO A LEVEL FOUR, SO WORK IS STILL IN PROGRESS.

WE HAVE ADDED CLASSROOMS, WE'VE ADDED ONE PRESCHOOL, THREE YEAR OLD ROOM AND ONE FOUR YEAR OLD ROOM.

WE CONTINUE TO HAVE INTEREST IN OUR FOUR YEAR OLD PROGRAM AND WE HOPE TO OPEN A NEW CLASSROOM VERY SOON.

I THINK MRS. [INAUDIBLE] WAS INTERVIEWING ACTUALLY BECAUSE OUR WAITLIST HAS GROWN BEYOND TEN.

AS MRS. HALL SHARED LOTS OF INFORMATION TONIGHT ABOUT WHAT WAS GOING ON DURING THEIR BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT, WHICH HAPPENED ON TUESDAY.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I'LL HEARKEN BACK TO WHEN TALKING WITH MRS. [INAUDIBLE] WAS THEIR FAMILY FUN FRIDAY THAT THEY HAD THEIR BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT.

AND THEY'RE VERY EXCITED TO HAVE A PARENT GROUP NOW AT THE NATHANIEL JONES EARLY LEARNING CENTER, AND THEY'RE CALLED PALS, AND IT'S BECAUSE PARENTS ARE LIFESAVERS.

SO WE'RE EXCITED THAT WE'VE GOT THAT IN PLACE AT THE EARLY LEARNING CENTER.

IN OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.

OUR NEW MATH CURRICULUM IS UP AND RUNNING.

ALL THE DIGITAL COMPONENTS ARE WORKING.

WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

I THINK MR. RIKERS VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT BECAUSE THAT WAS A HEAVY LIFT FOR ALL OF US TO LEARN HOW TO GET THE SYSTEM TO COMMUNICATE WITH THAT SYSTEM.

WE HAVE 90 MINUTE MATH BLOCKS IN ALL OF OUR BUILDINGS RIGHT NOW AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL.

MOST SCHOOLS HAVE THIS EVENT COMPLETED.

SOME WILL BE WRAPPING UP TOMORROW.

WE STILL DO HAVE A PILOT IN EACH ONE OF OUR ELEMENTARIES, ONE CLASSROOM OF KINDERGARTEN, ONE CLASSROOM OF FIRST GRADE THAT USE AN IPAD.

SO WE'RE CONTINUING TO TO EXPLORE THAT ASPECT AS WELL.

BUT IT'S EXCITING TO KNOW THAT OUR KIDS WILL HAVE THE LATEST AND THE GREATEST IN ORDER TO ACCESS ALL OF OUR NEW DIGITAL PROGRAMING, LOOKING AT FOCUS ON RIGOR AND EXPECTATIONS IN THE CLASSROOM AND MAKING EVERY MINUTE COUNT, THAT'S KIND OF BEEN THE THE DRUM WE'RE BEATING THIS YEAR THAT EVERY MINUTE WE HAVE THOSE CHILDREN IN FRONT OF US, WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE DOING OUR BEST TO HELP THEM BE THEIR BEST.

SO A COUPLE OF THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE IN PLACE ARE EDCM PROGRESS MONITORING TOOL THAT WAS ADOPTED LAST YEAR AND WE USE PRIMARILY FOR OUR CORE PROCESS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED FULLY IN EVERY BUILDING TO BETTER ASSESS OUR STUDENTS NEEDS ON AN ONGOING BASIS.

READING, BENCHMARKING, [INAUDIBLE] AND INSTRUCTIONAL WALKTHROUGHS BY BUILDING PRINCIPALS WILL ENSURE THAT EVERY INSTRUCTIONAL MINUTE WE HAVE, WE'RE CAPTURING . FINALLY SOME TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES AND THEMES THAT ARE GOING ON IN OUR BUILDING.

AND THESE ARE JUST A FEW THAT THAT HAVE BEEN SHARED.

EVERY ONE OF OUR BUILDINGS HAD A TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITY EVENT.

WHEN WE HAD OUR TEACHER WORKDAYS AT FISHBACK CREEK PUBLIC ACADEMY, THEY HAVE ADOPTED GLOW AS THEIR THEME AND THEY'RE EXCITED TO SEE HOW THEIR SCHOOL COMMUNITY WILL GROW AND GLOW WITH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.

DEAR RUN IS READING MOVE YOUR BUS BY RYAN CLARK.

THEIR GARDEN THIS YEAR THAT THEY'RE VERY PROUD OF PRODUCED AN ABUNDANCE OF LETTUCE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO SHARE THAT WITH DEER RUN FAMILIES.

THAT'S IMPORTANT THAT THEY HAVE THOSE MENTORS, MIDDLE SCHOOL KIDS, THEY NEED AS MANY PEOPLE THAT THEY CAN TALK TO AND COUNT ON FOR THAT STABILITY AND THAT FOUNDATION AS THEY'RE GOING THROUGH, AS WE KNOW, A LOT OF DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENT STAGES IN THEIR LIFE.

SO HAVING THAT YOUNG MEN OF PURPOSE, YOUNG WOMEN OF PURPOSE AND JUST PEOPLE IN THE BUILDING THAT THEY CAN COMMUNICATE WITH IS ESSENTIAL FOR THEIR DEVELOPMENT.

WE'RE ALSO GETTING OUR WELLNESS ROOMS PREPARED UP AND RUNNING, NOT JUST FOR STUDENTS, THOUGH, BUT FOR STAFF AS WELL.

WE WANT TO REALLY FOCUS ON THE SOCIAL WELL-BEING OF OF EVERYONE IN THAT BUILDING.

WE KNOW AND AGAIN, WITH OUR TEACHERS, WE NEED TO MAKE SURE WE'RE TAKING CARE OF THEM SO THAT THEY CAN BETTER SERVE OUR KIDS.

AND THEN JUST FINALLY, OUR ADMINISTRATORS ARE HOLDING THOSE GRADE LEVEL MEETINGS, JUST GOING THROUGH THE EXPECTATIONS, THE PROCEDURES AT SCHOOL.

THE YEAR BEGAN BACK IN JULY WHEN REGISTRATION WAS HELD AND A 9TH GRADE ORIENTATION.

A MAJORITY OF OUR 9TH GRADERS CAME TO ORIENTATION.

IT WAS IT WAS PACKED.

STUDENTS WERE READY TO BE BACK AND LEARN THE BUILDING AND GET BACK INTO THE GROOVE OF THINGS.

SO THEY ACTUALLY HAD THEIR ORIENTATION PRIOR TO THE START OF REGISTRATION, THEN TRANSITIONED STRAIGHT INTO REGISTRATION TO GET THEIR SCHEDULE AND LEARN THEIR WAY AROUND THE BUILDING. NOW THAT SCHOOL HAS STARTED, CLASS MEETINGS HAVE BEEN HELD WITH THE SENIOR CLASS, JUNIOR CLASS, SOPHOMORE CLASS AND FRESHMAN CLASS TO GET BACK INTO LEARNING WHAT THE EXPECTATIONS ARE, LEARNING WHAT WHAT THE YEAR WILL LOOK LIKE AS IT RELATES TO BEING IN YOUR SPECIFIC CLASS.

THERE ARE ONGOING MEETINGS WITH STUDENTS WHO NEED SCHEDULE REVISIONS BASED ON CLASSES AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH THEIR COUNSELOR TO ADDRESS ANY CONCERNS THEY MAY HAVE AS THEY WORK THROUGH THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR.

ONE OF THE AREAS I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT TODAY IS CALLED THE COMMUNITY RESOURCE ROOM.

THIS IS THE WORK OF MRS. TONYA [INAUDIBLE]. SHE PILOTED THIS PROGRAM LAST SPRING.

IT IS IT IS A WAY FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS TO REGULATE WHEN SOMETIMES WE'RE NOT AT OUR BEST.

IT IS IN COLLABORATION WITH THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF AT THE HIGH SCHOOL TO HELP STUDENTS SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL, AND TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT STUDENTS THAT MAY BE HEADING DOWN THE ROAD OF MAYBE A DISCIPLINARY ACTION.

THIS ROOM WAS EXPANDED THIS FALL BECAUSE WE ADDED A COUNSELOR.

MRS. [INAUDIBLE] MOVED TO ANOTHER AREA THAT ACTUALLY WAS NEIGHBORING A LARGER AREA.

SO IT'S HER OFFICE.

AND RIGHT NEXT TO IT IS AN EXPANDED COMMUNITY RESOURCE ROOM.

WE HAVE CERTIFICATIONS THAT WERE EARNED.

WE CONTINUE TO TRY TO EXPAND THESE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS TO UTILIZE AND GAIN BEFORE THEY STEP OUT INTO THE WORLD.

THEY ARE OUR STUDENTS THAT LEAVE OUR PROGRAMS THAT CAN GO STRAIGHT INTO AND HAVE THEIR COSMETOLOGY LICENSE OR THEY HAVE THEIR CERTIFICATION TO BE ABLE TO GO STRAIGHT INTO THE BUSINESS WORLD.

SO WE WILL CONTINUE TO LOOK AND EXPAND OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH WITH AS MANY, HOPEFULLY, PROGRAMS THAT WE CAN.

WE DID HAVE CERTIFICATIONS IN BUSINESS, WITHIN BUSINESS THAT COULD BE IN COMPUTERS OR IT COULD BE IN THE BUSINESS ACCOUNTING WORLD.

WE UNDERSTAND IN LOOKING AT OUR DATA THAT THAT IS AN AREA THAT WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE.

AND WE WERE ABLE TO ADD AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNER.

AT PIKE PREPARATORY.

THEY TOO SAW GREAT ADDITIONS.

THEY'VE GOTTEN OFF TO A GREAT START.

THEY WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL.

THE STUDENTS ARE TAKE THEIR WHAT WOULD BE CALLED THEIR HOME SCHOOL BUS TO PIKE HIGH SCHOOL, AND THEN THEY TAKE A BUS FROM PIKE HIGH SCHOOL TO PIKE PREPARATORY.

THERE ARE SOME OF OUR STUDENTS THAT ARE IN THE PREPARATORY ACADEMY.

THEY'RE STUDENTS IN BOTH BUILDINGS, RIGHT? THEY MAY GO TO PIKE PREP IN THE MORNING AND THEN GO AND FINISH THEIR PATHWAY WORK IN THE AFTERNOON AND VICE VERSA.

SOME OF THE NEW THINGS FOR PIKE PREPARATORY AND DR.

PERKINS HAS HAS BEEN AN ADVOCATE AND WORKED VERY CLOSELY WITH DR.

YOUNG TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO PIKE PREPARATORY.

IN THE PAST, THAT NUMBER HAS BEEN AND HOVERED AROUND 100 BECAUSE IT IS AN ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION SETTING, WHICH MEANS THAT WE NEED TO HAVE A 15 TO 1 RATIO.

THAT'S JUST THAT IS ONE OF THE REQUIREMENTS.

HOWEVER, THIS YEAR WE HAVE THE CAPACITY TO INCREASE OUR ENROLLMENT AT PIKE PREPARATORY FROM 100 TO 140.

ALONG WITH THAT COMES ADDITIONAL FTES.

THERE WERE, THAT WAS AN ADDITIONAL ENGLISH TEACHER AND AN ADDITIONAL SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER THAT WERE ADDED TO ACCOMMODATE THE FACT THAT WE'RE GOING TO NOW HAVE MORE STUDENTS THERE. WE ALSO ADDED TWO ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANTS.

THOSE INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANTS WERE ADDED TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNER STUDENTS AND OUR EXCEPTIONAL LEARNER STUDENTS WHO ARE THERE EITHER ALL DAY OR PART OF THE DAY. THESE WERE ALL NEEDS THAT WE FELT WERE PERTINENT FOR OUR STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO FINISH ON TIME.

WELCOME BACK OUR STAFF LAST WEEK AND THEN OUR AFC STAFF THIS WEEK.

YOU KNOW I THINK IN CABINET MAY HAVE COMPARED OUR OUR STAFF OVER HERE TO LIKE THE ENGINE OF A CAR.

IT'S UNDER THE HOOD. YOU DON'T SEE THE ENGINE, BUT WITHOUT THE ENGINE, THE CAR DOESN'T GO.

SO THEY DO A LOT OF WORK BEHIND THE SCENES.

AND JUST AS YOU SAW THE PRESENTATION TODAY, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE AN AWESOME TEAM, SO I'M APPRECIATIVE TO THEM.

TO MS. [INAUDIBLE] POINT, IT WAS A BUSY START.

I LOVED HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET OUT TO THE SCHOOLS.

I GOT OVER 15,000 STEPS LAST TUESDAY, BUT THE STAFF, THE STUDENTS SEEM TO BE VERY EXCITED, SMILES AND GLAD TO BE BACK IN THE BUILDING.

I DO WANT TO RECOGNIZE THE PTA FOR THEIR PARTNERSHIP IN CREATING OUR RECRUITMENT AND OUR RETENTION STIPENDS AS WELL AS OUR MOU.

YOU KNOW, PIKE TOWNSHIP IS I SAY IT AND I MEAN IT.

IT'S THE BEST COMMUNITY IN THE STATE OF INDIANA.

WELL, IF IT JUST MAKES SENSE THAT THE BEST COMMUNITY DESERVES THE BEST EDUCATORS.

AND SO I THANKFUL TO THE BOARD FOR ALL OF YOU FOR SUPPORTING THAT.

AND I BELIEVE IT'S A ANOTHER STEP IN ENSURING THAT WE HAVE THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST ALWAYS IN FRONT OF OUR STUDENTS BECAUSE THEY DESERVE IT.
