THIS WEEK, WE'RE CELEBRATING THE FACT THAT TWO OF OUR GRADUATES WERE SELECTED TO RECEIVE PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS FROM INDIANA UNIVERSITY.

[INAUDIBLE] SHOCKLEY WAS ONE OF 70 INCOMING FRESHMEN TO BE SELECTED AS AN ADAM W HERBERT PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLAR.

THIS FOUR YEAR RENEWABLE SCHOLARSHIP IS AWARDED TO AN INDIANA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT OF EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT.

AND CAITLYN COOPER WAS ONE OF 13 INCOMING FRESHMEN TO BE SELECTED AS A KELLEY SCHOLAR AT THE IU SCHOOL OF BUSINESS.

AS A RESULT, SHE'LL RECEIVE STANDARD TUITION AND FEES, A STIPEND FOR LIVING EXPENSES AND FUNDING FOR ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES SUCH AS STUDY ABROAD.

ON SATURDAY, THE ORTHO INDIE FOUNDATION YMCA HOSTED THEIR ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL FEST AT CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS IT HAD BEEN A DRIVE THRU EVENT BECAUSE OF COVID, BUT THIS YEAR THEY HAD BOUNCE HOUSES, MUSIC, FOOD BOOTHS AND A BACKPACK AND SCHOOL SUPPLY GIVEAWAY.

WE ALSO HOSTED A BOOTH AT THE INDIANA BLACK EXPO.

IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.

ALL OF OUR BOOTH VOLUNTEERS REPORTED HAVING POSITIVE INTERACTIONS WITH VISITORS.

PEOPLE WOULD COME UP AND SAY, I WENT TO PIKE, MY GRANDPARENTS WENT TO PIKE, OR ASK ABOUT HOW THEY CAN BE PART OF OUR PIKE FAMILY, EITHER WITH THEIR CHILDREN BEING STUDENTS HERE OR AS EDUCATORS OR STAFF MEMBERS.

SO IT WAS A REALLY NICE EXPERIENCE TO BE THERE.

NEXT WEEK, OVER 300 PIKE EDUCATORS WILL JOIN US FOR OUR SUMMER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE, ELEVATE ED.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE CONTINUE TO EXCITEDLY PREPARE TO WELCOME OUR STUDENTS ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 2ND, THE FIRST DAY OF THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR.

SO, MS. DORSEY, I DIDN'T GET A CHANCE TO SEE OR EVEN EITHER RUNNING TO THE BOOTH THERE AT PIKE.

CAN YOU JUST KIND OF GIVE US A LITTLE BIT OF WHAT WAS WHAT WAS OFFERED IN THE BOOTH? YES. SO WE TOOK I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE SEEN IT, OUR BIG STEP AND REPEAT WITH THE HUGE PIKE LOGO.

THE OTHER ONE HAD A BEAUTIFUL PHOTO OF OUR STUDENTS ON THE FRONT AND THEN TALKED ABOUT ALL OF THE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN PIKE.

WE ALSO GAVE AWAY PIKE SUCKERS AND PIKE PENS AND THEN JUST TALKED ABOUT THE EDUCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES HERE IN PIKE TOWNSHIP.

I THINK SO. AND JUST TO PROMOTE THE GREAT THINGS HAPPENING IN PIKE AND BE A PRESENCE THERE.

WE, THERE'S A SECTION THIS YEAR AT LEAST THERE WAS A SECTION AND IN THE PAST THERE WHERE WE HAD SCHOOL DISTRICTS REPRESENTED, WE WERE NEXT TO LAWRENCE, I KNOW IPS AND MORE AND MORE ALSO THERE HSC WAS THERE CATHEDRAL WAS ACROSS FROM US AND THEN THERE WERE ALSO SEVERAL COLLEGES IN THE AREA.

SO IT WAS GREAT TO KIND OF STAND OUT.

AND OUR BOOTH DID STAND OUT, I THINK, BECAUSE OF THE LARGE BACKDROP.

SO PEOPLE WOULD SEE IT AND COME OVER AND TALK WITH US.

AND IN TERMS OF SPOTLIGHTING THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE HAVE HERE, WHAT WERE THOSE OPPORTUNITIES? WHAT DID THAT LOOK LIKE? SO WE TALKED ABOUT THE IA POSITIONS.

WE TALKED ABOUT TEACHING POSITIONS.

WE TALKED ABOUT BUS MONITOR POSITIONS AND WE TALKED ABOUT ON THE FLIER ACTUALLY HAD LIKE JUST KIND OF YOU COULD BE AN IT YOU COULD DO GROUND JUST REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU DO.

WE MAY HAVE SOMETHING FOR YOU, SO PLEASE TALK TO US ABOUT THAT.

SO IT WAS JUST A REALLY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE.
